Yet again I'm in awe of SAP, when they say they are going to become the leaders in a new business enabling tech they mean it.
SAPs aim is to become (I think they are there already) the number one for enterprise application software and business AI

Today I read a post which said
"AI 🤖 is only as good as the data its based upon" ! (ffs deep sigh)
Which is essentially the old "dross in dross out statement", which has been the problem statement for most failed data strategies over the last three decades.
Leading to
Many organisations having a hotch potch of data and analytic solutions (data repositories) littering the enterprise architecture, all under utilised and failing to deliver the shinny over optimistic outcomes promised.
And that got me thinking 🤔
Why the SAP “Clean Core” message is proving problematic
Why the SAP Clean Core message is proving problematic to land, for customers, it adds a further level of complexity (Adopting a new standard target operating model across the organisation is a major organisational change undertaking and will need significant business sponsorship and resource, leading to a reluctance to commit to SAP S/4HANA and RISE as for many this will be seen as an unnecessary and disruptive activity at a time when the global economy is rocking.

Riding the 4 year SAP ERP upgrade storm wave !
In the film Point Break, Keanu Revves and Patrick Swayze search to ride the mythical 50 year storm wave, with point break being the moment the wave hits land.
A consistent rule within the SAP universe is that every 4 to 5 years a customer will have to expend time and budget performing some type of SAP Upgrade. CIO’s will remember that when they moved to SAP ECC they were told they would never have to upgrade again !
The reality is that SAP tech is constantly evolving and you simply can’t second guess the next major jump in must have innovation driving business value, necessitating some form of major intervention over a four year term.

Many existing SAP customers who have decided to stick with SAP ECC are now faced with the fast approaching 31st December 2025 maintenance deadline, whereby they will need to either migrate to SAP S/4HANA or Upgrade to SAP ECC Enhancement pack 6+.
