No CFO ever said "all I want for Xmas is a clean SAP / ERP core" the tech messy middle which evolved over a generation, innovating, optimising and automating the organisations end to end business processes.
Over time AI in multiple forms will help to innovate and unpick this mess, so stick a pin ๐ in that idea for the next couple of years, clean core organisational impact does not warrant the significant investment required,..... Brian Duffy
So letโs instead focus on quick intelligent plug ๐ and play process innovation (letโs stop talking cloud) it's what composable ๐tech was made for !!!!!
1. Productivity, In UK and Europe, 14 weeks out of 52 is lost due to middle management absence, simply deploy "plug and play" intelligent cloud micro services (apps) to identify and free up the process bottlenecks, readily available and deployable within weeks.
2. A real time XP&A view of cost of goods sold to influence real time supply chain decision making. Easy plug and play innovation.
3. Supply Chain Transport management, disruption to key transport routes (Red Sea etc) will be an ongoing issue during 2024, the ability to make informed real time decisions will be key. Road, Sea, Air, Rail and space ๐๐ช
4. Supply Chain optimisation, getting value from the 3PL network, a great example of how your legacy distributed data can be turned into an intelligent data fabric. Easy to establish and will drive value and take out cost.
5. Customer satisfaction ๐, lets focus on getting the basics right, Available To Promise, Production Planning and Drop shipment to name just a few, SAP Cloud makes it easy.
6. Environmental Governance, COP26 was a defining event for SAP, working with the World Economic Forum they embedded a complete net zero / carbon accounting operating model into the entire SAP product suite. So if you need to dip your toe into the Greenline, plug and play tooling is readily available.
7. User Experience, another productivity win, AI will be parachuted in to provide guided virtual assistants to make navigation and completing time sensitive key tasks easier.
8. Data Alchemy, AI will help link your disparate data leveraging plug and play hyper-scaler pay as you go tooling, essentially creating a virtual data lake without the need for complex data warehousing or a massive capital investment, or a programme that wonโt deliver.
And back to the messy middleโฆ..
9. Hyper-automation, an ongoing trend that will accelerate, leveraging plug and play robotic process automation to simplify and automate the process core.
No mention of rip๐ it up and start again for clean cloud ERP or to support data fabrics....
