Do You Really understand RISE with SAP
We welcome Frank Albrecht as a guest Dragon ERP blogger,
Do you really understand "RISE with SAP"?
Many of us have heard the term, but when we dive deeper, the questions seem endless. SAP has positioned RISE as a game-changer, but does it truly live up to the promise, and more importantlyโwhat does it mean for ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ?
Letโs take a closer look at the different angles that RISE with SAP impacts:
๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น: RISE bundles everything into one contractโsounds great, right? But ๐ต๐๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐๐ must be carefully calculated, especially for multi-year commitments. What looks like a saving today could escalate tomorrow.
With hyperscalers involved, youโll rely heavily on SAPโs expertise. But does this reliance come at a price in terms of flexibility and control?
๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด: Itโs the classic "๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐. ๐ผ๐๐ป" debate. RISE switches you from perpetual licenses to a subscription model. Are you comfortable with this shift? Just like renting a house, you may not have the freedom to make major changes.
๐๏ธ ๐ข๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐น: With ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐บ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐น๐ available, picking the right one can be a challenge. Which one truly suits your business, and do you have the clarity needed to choose wisely?
๐ ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ & ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ธ (๐ฅ&๐ฅ): Who does what in this new world? The ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ธ document is crucial in determining whoโs responsible for specific tasksโSAP, you, or a third-party vendor?
What happens when SAP fails to meet their SLAs? Who's responsible if an outage in SAP causes your supply chain to grind to a halt? ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น-๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐น๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐พ๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ like this are often overlooked but crucial to consider.
With RISE, you're not only changing how you operate but also What does this shift in the contract mean for your business in the long run?
Is RISE locking you into SAP more tightly than ever before? While it offers simplicity, does it also limit your options when you want to make changes or move elsewhere?
โ๏ธ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ด๐ป๐๐: Hereโs the real kickerโin todayโs world, "๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ธ๐ฒ๐๐, ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ" applies more than ever. With RISE, SAP handles your data. Could this data be used for SAP's own large language models (LLMs)?
๐ฅ๏ธ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ก๐ผ๐?: Despite the marketing, ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐ฆ๐๐ฃ ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐น๐ผ๐๐ฑ ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป isnโt quite a SaaS solution. Itโs still far from the true SaaS experience many expect.
Please note that this is just a general overview. I could elaborate on each topic for hours!
How has your experience with RISE been so far? Do you feel like SAP has provided enough clarity, or are you left with more questions than answers?
